Group Programs
Connection through shared passions
For many young people on the spectrum, finding a social circle that doesn't require "masking" is a constant struggle. Traditional social settings can feel forced or overwhelming, leading to a cycle of staying at home and losing touch with the community. It's frustrating to look for groups only to find they don't align with your actual interests. This isolation doesn't just impact your social life; it affects your confidence and your mental health. At GCDAY, we believe that belonging is a fundamental part of wellbeing. Our group programs are designed to improve communication and social skills by bringing people together over things they actually enjoy.
We provide a supportive space where you can develop executive functioning, creative problem-solving, and emotional resilience without the pressure of a clinical environment. Whether you're navigating daily activities or building friendships, our groups offer a natural way to engage with the world.
What's involved
01
A focus on your interests
We don't just run generic social groups. Our most popular offering is Dungeons and Dragons, with multiple groups running throughout the week, but we also cover everything from board games and arts and crafts to animal feeding. If you have a specific hobby that isn't on our calendar, we're open to working with you to create a new group. This flexibility means you're always connecting with people who actually get your interests.
02
Developing real life skills
While our groups are fun, they also serve a practical purpose. Joining in on structured games and workshops builds executive functioning and social confidence. Working through the rules of a game or collaborating on a creative project builds the same skills needed to navigate daily life and community settings. You're learning to lead and communicate while you're focused on having a good time.
03
Flexibility and local access
We want our programs to be as accessible as possible. While our primary hubs are in Nerang and Coomera, we run group sessions at various locations from Beenleigh down to Robina. This range of locations makes it easier to find a group close to home, so you can build a local network of peers and mentors who live and work in your own community.
04
Try a group before you commit
You can sit in on any of our groups before you sign up, no payment and no NDIS information required. A trial session gives you the same level of access and support as our established participants, so you can feel the room and see whether the group is one you'd actually look forward to. If it's a fit, you stay. If it's not, you try another one or we work with you to start something new.
Picture a week where you aren't just passing time, but actively engaging with a group of friends who share your passions.
